Using the step

Step 1: place the chain on the broken chain slot and align the pins

Step 2: lock the chain with the knob

Step 3: push the pin out by turning the chain breaker forward/clockwise

Step 4: when the pin is pushed out, turn the chain breaker backward/counterclockwise to remove the chain

Step 5: the chain has now been split, repeat steps 1-4 to install the return pin.
